Giants beat the Flyers on OT, prepare for the Steelers

Elfring takes the Man of the Match

DEL veteran blueliner, Calvin Elfring, took the man of the match award last night after winning the game in overtime for the Giants.

A tight game with three scuffles provided plenty of entertainment for a match night crowd featuring a second visit from Cameron "Superfan" Hughes, though the Mexican Waves were premature, with Fife tying the game in the third period.

Giants Comeback Cages The Panthers

Posted at 01:24 AM on 26/10/2013

A big game in the Elite League and a tremendous contest in the Odyssey Arena with Giants coming from behind with a 3-1 final period surge to snap Panthers 9 game winning run in all competitions.

It was the Giants blue line corps that did the damage with three of the four home goals coming defencemen but that will be of little concern as Paul Adey’s men go two points clear of Dundee at the top of the table.

Coach Adey had this to say: “the signing of Craig Peacock helps us – he is proven at this level. He’s a good guy who plays with a lot of heart which is important for us. He’ll give us some depth as, if we have any injuries, it gives us some cover. I’m looking forward to having him in the lineup and seeing him play.

Looking back at Cardiff + ahead to Coventry

Posted at 13:28 PM on 12/09/2013

Any win is a good one, and and to get the early season edge over a perennially gritty team like the Cardiff Devils at their rink is a good start to a season. The Giants extend their league streak to two from two, and four including the pre-season fixtures against Bolzano Bozen Foxes. Jeffrey Szwez took the GWG, and Captain Adam Keefe scored two including a fantastic half volley of a shot to seal a 7-2 win. Highlights below.

Focussing on the upcoming game, Matt Soderstrom brings his maiden Blaze lineup to the Odyssey hoping to get their first league points after a tough opening weekend, losing to Sheffield in the Cup and Dundee in league action. Giants fans will always regard Coventry as rivals despite their grip on the league weakening over the last few seasons, so expect a decent crowd and hopefully a big game. You can catch it live on
